Magnolia Parks and BJ Ballentine are meant to be, and everyone knows it. She dates other people to keep him at bay; he sleeps with other girls to get back at her for it. But at the end of every sad endeavor to get over one another, it’s still each other they crawl back to. But now their dysfunction is catching up with them, pulling at their seams and fraying the world they’ve built; a world where neither has ever let the other go completely.

Story
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them. With fewer dragons willing to bond than cadets, most would kill Violet to better their own chances of success.

Everyone in my family has killed someone. Some of us, the high achievers, have killed more than once. I’m not trying to be dramatic, but it is the truth. Some of us are good, others are bad, and some just unfortunate. I’m Ernest Cunningham. Call me Ern or Ernie. I wish I’d killed whoever decided our family reunion should be at a ski resort, but it’s a little more complicated than that.

Story
Worn out after decades of packing steel and raising hell, Viv, the orc barbarian, cashes out of the warrior’s life with one final score. A forgotten legend, a fabled artifact, and an unreasonable amount of hope lead her to the streets of Thune, where she plans to open the first coffee shop the city has ever seen. However, her dreams of a fresh start filling mugs instead of swinging swords are hardly a sure bet. Old frenemies and Thune’s shady underbelly may just upset her plans. To build something that will last, Viv will need some new partners, and a different kind of resolve.

Story
Galaxy “Alex” Stern is the most unlikely member of Yale’s freshman class. Raised in the Los Angeles hinterlands by a hippie mom, Alex dropped out of school early and into a world of shady drug-dealer boyfriends, dead-end jobs, and much, much worse. In fact, by age twenty, she is the sole survivor of a horrific, unsolved multiple homicide. Some might say she’s thrown her life away. But at her hospital bed, Alex is offered a second chance: to attend one of the world’s most prestigious universities on a full ride. What’s the catch, and why her?

You can tell SJM was young when she wrote this
Excellent performance in the audio book, but my god is it full of cliches and tropes. I heard great things about the series tho, will continue!

A girly, simplistic story
I'm probably not the target audience, based on book database rating I expected a better story. classic clichés, flat characters.

Couldn't stop listening
I loved the story and the narrator was excellent! Only a few chapters in I got so invested in this fantasy world and finished it in two days (I still had to study a bit in between...). If you love fantasy mixed with cunning drama, a dash of romance and a great bunch of fight scenes, you need to get this book.
Okay, I'm off to get the next one.

Very good!
I’ve delved into this genre with fourth wing and it has been a great decision to give it a chance. I was looking for a substitute while waiting for the third book and this one did not disappoint. I love the main character. She is definitely not another Demi-god but a person well equipped with lots of ups and downs, soul searching dilemmas and full of emotions. Story reads very well and flows easily. I am already on the third book! I strongly recommend for the lovers of this genre. Oh need to mention the reader -Elisabeth Evans is brilliant.

This took a while to get into.
This was okay.
I had a time getting into the story, but it got good in the end. So I am going to continue with the series for now.
